Is a rental car needed?

Hi all,

Me and my four children(3,4,10,11) and husband will be in Orlando on Monday 7-7 thru 7-11. We are staying @ the blue heron beach resort and they provide a shuttle service to Disney and SW, which was how we planned to get back and forth to the parks. But now considering renting a van. Anyone with any experience or ideas or suggestions in this area? PLease let me know please. Thanks

While the shuttles can certainly save you money, you become very dependent on them. If (unfortunately) one of your children becomes ill and you want to get them back to the villa to rest, you would have to wait for the shuttle. Even if you wanted to make breakfast arrangements at the park, you%26#39;d have to plan around the shuttle times and hope that they run on time. While this is ok for some people, IMO it makes your vacation a lot easier and more enjoyable to have a car.

I always hire a car myself, but see from your post that you probably can get away without one. Don%26#39;t forget to factor in the costs of the trip to and form the airport into your calculations.

Have you thought about what you will do in the evenings? If you will need to go out to eat and can%26#39;t walk, then you need to figure in taxi fares.

as the previous poster said, if you hire a car then you can please yourself where you go and when, no hanging around for shuttles, buses etc. You can hire a car all in very cheaply and even though petrol prices have gone up, you can still go a long way on 拢25 worth of fuel !

Do you need a car? No. Will it make your life a lot easier having one? Yes.

If this is where Google tells me it is, then, for your interest, you are about 1 - 1.25 miles from the two nearest useful bus stops for the public service bus, LYNX.

Scan, I looked it up as well. They are a walk from Bahama Breeze, Publix and Hawaiian mini golf too.

But if it is hot or raining, or if you have small children and shopping, walking a mile or more isn%26#39;t easy or even an option for some.

So I say relocate to a more convenient hotel in LBV closer to DTD, or to lower Idrive.

Thanks for all your advice, we are renting a mini-van.

I think you%26#39;ll find that your sanity will remain intact this way :)

Enjoy!
