Monorail

If we were to stay on the Monorail, is the Polynesian or Contemporary Hotel better? We are not going to have a car. We%26#39;d like to be able to go to restaurants at other resorts rather than always in the theme parks. Is there little difference in time traveling if we stay at either one of those hotels?

I know we liked the Contemporary walking path to the MK the last time we stayed and we%26#39;ll have three young children with us.

Thanks

Monorail

In my opinion I would prefer the Polynesian every time, even without the building site next door to the Contemporary.

Monorail

What is the reason you prefer Polynesian? And, as far as transportation is it pretty much the same from either place as far as going to TTC and then on bus to other resorts?

I heard the Contemporary was renovated and more visually appealing now. Have you seen it?

If I%26#39;m reading this right, you%26#39;ve already stayed at the Contemporary? If so, I%26#39;d stay at the Polynesian then just to try something new! I%26#39;ve stayed at the Poly, but not the Contemporary, so the Contemporary is on my list of resorts to stay at. I LOVED the Poly. I don%26#39;t think since both are on the Monorail that you%26#39;ll have much of a difference in traveling time. Yes, I can imagine that the walkway b/t the Contemporary %26amp; the MK is nice, but hopping on the monorail to head to the MK is just as easy, plus at the Poly you%26#39;re closer to the TTC to head over to Epcot, so as far as Transportation goes, I%26#39;d say both have their pros.

Have you considered the Wilderness Lodge with your kids? It%26#39;s a little further with the traveling time, however you can catch the boat launch over to the MK. It%26#39;s got some lovely theming that with kids I wouldn%26#39;t hesitate to recommend.

Have to agree with the Polynisian ! We loved it, and it is our favorite.

The entire decor is wonderful, the lobby alone is a good reason to stay.

To me , the Contemporary is a nice hotel. The Poly is a tropical resort.

We stayed at the Poly in April and loved it....monorail to GF, MK and Epcot was excellent...the walk to the transportation center is very convenient. We had our 4.5 year old niece and the MR is the only way to go with a little one.....

Poly....u will love it.

Cheers,

M

I agree with Checkers - the Contemporary is a conveniently located hotel, but the Poly is a lovely, very atmospheric resort. That is a big, big difference.

I%26#39;ve stayed at both, and the Poly wins hands-down. The Contemporary is big and bustling, with a lot of concrete. The Poly is calming, relaxing, full of grass, palm trees, beach, and Polynesian theming. The pool is much ';cooler'; than the one at the Contemporary, and the Electric Water Pagent comes by at a more convenient hour for children (9:00 at the Poly versus around 10 at the Contemporary). Because the Poly is in the middle, the monorail is just a short ride regardless of whether you are going to or returning from the MK. The Poly is one of Disney%26#39;s best, while the Contemporary was actually one of my least-favorite Disney resorts.

I notice no one (including me) really addressed your issue about getting to other resorts for dinner. From either resort, I would just go over to the MK and take a bus to the resort from there. (I%26#39;m not sure buses even go to the resorts from the TTC anymore - I certainly haven%26#39;t seen a bus at the resorts going to/from the TCC in many years.)

NY...

we just returned from the poly, and i think i spoiled my family too much and they do not want to stay anywhere else while at WDW and i dont blame them, however after eating %26amp; walking through the cont i do want to give the cont a shot!!! I havnt stayed there in about 25 years but it is such a landmark at WDW you have to stay there every now %26amp; then. the poly has it all and then some, yes you do pay a $$ but your on vaca and what do you want?? The food the rooms the service the ambianse all on and on the poly has it. we stayed in the tupalu buillding i think it was called just near the boat rental looking at the castle...come on...it was well worth the $$ and we will be on the monarail resorts every single time....with kids you cant beat it!!!

peace...safe travels

Contemp is our fav, but you won%26#39;t go wrong with either. As for trans to other resorts, Probably quicker to mono to MK %26amp; catch resort bus. Many of the resort buses ';circle'; thru T%26amp;T after leaving MK, but not all do, so odds are better that you will catch a bus quicker @ MK, plus even if every bus did pick up @ T%26amp;T after leaving MK, odds are you could be standing as you would be some of the last guest to board the bus after the MK stop. Have fun!!
