If so, how was it? What was your experience?
Anyone use Bookit.com?
On saturday i booked two nights at the Gansevoort South for 99$ each.
The only thing i can complain is they didn%26#39;t confirm the reservation until now but stated it will happen within 48 hours. But there enough time left to confirm the reservation.
Anyone use Bookit.com?
I booked yesterday a room for 5 night at a ';mystery hotel'; for $77 (3*). I got a grey face when I read the reviews, so I called them to see if I could cancel. They recommended me the ';New casablanca'; which is much much worse in the reviews.
So I am not sure. It is certainly an inexpensive price, but I will see. Beachfront, breakfast included. All the posters complain about the valet parking...
But I received 2 confirmations right away.
Do they have only horrible hotels? I couldn%26#39;t spend much more, and I have seen negative reviews about palaces.
Forgot to say it was the Marco Polo :)
I booked a hotel on BookIt.com and got an excellent deal, or so I thought. $99 per night at the Gansevoort, which is a brand new, ';upscale'; hotel.
Apparantly, they have ';special'; rooms for people who get the cheap rate on Bookit. Special = tiny. I didn%26#39;t see any representative of this room on any website. They did the bait and switch on us.
I also booked the Gansevoort via bookit.com. Your experience doesn%26#39;t sound very promissinng.
According to bookit.com website only the first 15 bookings per night were given a price of $99, maybe the yonly have 15 of those tiny rooms...
Did you complain about the room?
Last i was put at a Hyatt on the groundfloor, i went to the front desk and asked for another room and i could choose between the floors they had rooms left on and ended up on the fifth floor in a nice room.
Yes, I did complain about the room. Upon check-in, Erin at the front desk gushed about how wonderful the room was and how much we%26#39;d love it. NOT!
When my sister-in-law and I got to the room, I called the front desk. First they told me there was nothing available - she never even checked. I asked to speak with a manager, who was unavailable, but would call me back. Fifteen minutes later I received a phone call. First, again I was told that there was nothing available. Finally, she fessed up and told me that this is the room you get for $99. I told her that on BookIt I booked a ';standard double'; and that this was not the standard double that I cross-referenced on Gansevoort South%26#39;s website. She again told me that this is the room that you get through Bookit for $99. I told her that I felt that I had been duped, and that I would be taking pictures of the room and forwarding them and a copy of my reservation from Bookit to American Express for dispute in addition to posting on Trip Advisor. I told her that I was coming to check out and that I would just take my luggage and stomp down Collins Avenue to find another hotel. She told me to wait, and that she would call me back.
Low and behold, they sent someone to show us another room, which had been represented in the pictures with a sitting area and normal sized table, double sinks in the bathroom (but only a king sized bed). We agreed to take it, and the bellman went to the front desk to get us new key cards. After 30 minutes he didn%26#39;t show, so I went to the front desk. The manager with whom I spoke saw me and knew who I was (the desk clerk had to verify that it was okay to change) and she NEVER acknowledged me.
Be careful with Bookit. I don%26#39;t know who is responsible for this deception - Bookit or Gansevoort South. Just know before you go, and if you aren%26#39;t expecting what you see on Gansevoort%26#39;s website, you won%26#39;t be disappointed.
Did you take pictures of both rooms?
Can you post them?
My stay is 2 month out, but honestly i expect to get a room like i see on the pictures on their website.
I also booked the Gansevoort 99 through Bookit.com. If you could post photos of the rooms that would be wonderful. It%26#39;s for my best friend%26#39;s bachelorette party so if its ridiculously small, I would like to change it. Thanks for your help!
I have used bookit.com on several occasions for South Beach in Miami and have had postive experiences...the hotel/room was represented accurately on the website and there were addtional amenities (complimentary use of beach chairs, free breakfast, VIP passes into the clubs) that made the price paid a very good value....I would definitely use them again....
