hi - we are thinking of staying over labor day weekend - we like high end ritz carlton type properties - i realize this isn%26#39;t 5 star, but is it the nicest on the island? how far from ft. myers airport? is it directly on the ocean and is shelling and beach time available here? is it close to any good restaurants/shopping? thanks ;)

Sanibel Harbour Resort %26amp; Spa Questions ~ high end? :)As mentioned this resort is not on Sanibel. It%26#39;s looking out over San Carlos Bay and is approx 30-40 minutes from the airport. There is a shopping outlet just minutes away (Tanger outlet) but I can%26#39;t help further.
If you want shelling then you could simply pay the toll to get onto Sanibel and pay the $1 per hour at the public beaches.
Maybe you will get more definitive answers on the Fort Myers forum. There arer also many reviews of this reort on T/A and some of you questions may be answered there too.
Finally if you want good shopping Naples would be the place to go but it%26#39;s a bit of a drive (scenic), about 50 minutes.

I had the opportunity to walk through this place on my recent visit and I thought it looked really nice and totally upscale. Can%26#39;t comment on the rooms but the common areas looked very enjoyable and I was impressed (and that fact that it was in the middle of a T-storm I%26#39;m sure t looks even better in bright sunshine, lol).
Yes, you will have to drive to the shelling beaches but they have a small (manmade?) beach right in the marina for swiminng.
I would definitely consider it for a relaxing long luxury weekend. Shopping at the outlets is right there but there isn%26#39;t much in the way of restaurants around aside from the hotel itself but anywhere on Sanibel is a short enough drive across the causeway bridge.
