Daytona Beach at Christmas

I%26#39;m planning my trip to Daytona Beach at Christmas. I will be traveling with my son who is 16. What could I expect for weather and crowds on the beach? I%26#39;m hoping to go deep sea fishing...any thoughts? Can the two of us (mother and son) walk safely on the beach and local areas? Are carts of some sort available for rent on the beach and are they easily available? Any help is appreciated!

Daytona Beach at Christmas

Weather can be tricky as it may be warm and sunny or cold, cloudy, rainy, and windy. Bring clothes for all seasons which you can layer or shed, and remember the wind on the beach can be chilly that time of year.

You can definitely walk safely on the beach as long as you are aware of your surroundings. I wouldn%26#39;t go out there during dark hours, however.

Don%26#39;t know if the rental vendors will be out and about the beach area at that time of year or not, and probably only on the weekends if they are.

We went in early December last year and will be in DAytona again from Dec. 11-19th this year. Hoping we%26#39;ll have the same great weather we had last year...minus the red tide!!

Red tide was awful last year on the last few days of our trip in December.

Daytona Beach at Christmas

I go each year for Christmas to Daytona. It is chilly. Most days, to sit on the beach I wear shorts and a sweatshirt. I live north also, so I can say that it is far better than the winters up north, so enjoy.

As for walking on the beach, I walk on it regularly and at nights, also. It is absolutely safe. I never know what people are talking about when they say it is unsafe. The only unsafe places in Daytona area away from the beach area.

Enjoy and post a trip report.

Thanks for the help from both posts! I%26#39;m excited for my first trip to Florida and I%26#39;m sure my son is just as excited! I%26#39;ll be sure to report on my trip. Thanks for the help and advice!
