Hi all,
We decided to do Bush Gardens first this year as airfare was still on special for 89.00 from here to Orlando or Tampa. We flew into Tampa May 30, got our car and went to our motel. The next day we spent at Busch Gardens. We both just loved it. It is now my 3 rd favorite theme park, Magic Kingdom and Seaworld being the first two. June 1, we drove over to Daytona, was a nice drive, took less than 3 hours and when we came to the intersection of A1A and Main St. in Daytona I got a gimpse of the ocean. I always LOVE that part! We were able to drive on it a ways before we got to the LaPlaya, I was in total heaven. We got to our suite, it was so clean and looked like it had been waiting just for us, LOL. We put our suitcases down and went straight to the patio (ground floor room) we could see the ocean, a D.J. was playing ';The Rose'; by Bette Midler, from the tiki hut on the pool deck area, it was just the best! We relaxed a bit then went to get food and a beach chair and umbrella. We like to cook some of our meals and breakfasts in our room kitchen while there. It was sunny with a nice ocean breeze, about 90 degrees but sure didn%26#39;t feel real hot to us, just pleasant. A few places you could only drive on the beach if you had four wheel drive because soft sand is in some areas but we did drive down to the beach in another area and enjoyed it for several hours. We could see some shrimp boats in the distance and a lot of people were para sailing, Dinner that night was from Red Lobster, we got the lobster. I know it is a chain but the one on N. Atlantic close to Charlie Horse has excellent seafood. After breakfast the next day we went shopping at Big Shark. Hubby found a T-Shirt he liked and I got postcards. Then it was back to the beach for us!
More later,

Trip Report, part one
welcome home Punz
You do make us feel like we were there.
Trip Report, part one
Nice report punz. You do sound relaxed. We will be leaving this coming Thursday, yippee!
Good report Punz, ready for the rest. Big Shark is my favorite gift shop!!!!!
Hey punz...my mind is in Daytona at the moment, and I am picturing everything in my mind that you described. My what a peaceful feeling :)
Gwennie also likes that Red Lobster, and I am a Big Shark fan!
I agree that the first view of the ocean coming down off the bridges is spectacular. My son lived in Ponce Inlet so we came over the Dunlawton bridge and the view would be breathtaking each time. Now we exit 95 at SR 100, go to Flager and drive down the coast highway which is glorious.
Can%26#39;t wait to get there next month.
Seems we all love Daytona Beach for many of the same reasons. The new water park just south of the Boardwalk beach entrance is nice too.

I%26#39;m getting homesick!!
Well, I see that you have posted 3 reports, and I%26#39;m a little late, so I start with the first and then on to the second, sounds like you had a great time for the first part of your vacation! I just love arriving into Daytona Beach!
Wes,
Snipes,
I hope you get to go again sometime soon. I honestly treasure each time we go as one day it may be the last, one never knows :)

Hi Punz -
I%26#39;ve been enjoying your Daytona Beach commentary for well over a year. Last year, %26#39;07, I was there in both mid-May and early June. Getting ready to go, getting packed, then being there......I see so much of myself in your posts.
You said (back in %26#39;06):

Well, if you haven%26#39;t done it yet, check Google Maps, then Street View. You can follow the road right up to that intersection and see the ocean in the background. I%26#39;ve stood right there at that intersection, and walked down to the beach bar about a half block towards the ocean - good food. One of my traditions at Daytona Beach is to have one meal at Shells. I enjoy Ocean Deck and Oyster Pub a great deal, but Shells is still a spot for me.
