Hi..we want to drive to Orlando from NJ...but..we want to avoid the Washington DC horror story part of the drive...any suggestions?
Based on that what%26#39;s a good halfway point to stop and catch some sleep....there are three of us to share the driving and a ton of DVDs will help!
Thanks. JB
Driving to Florida from NJ
I believe South GA is a recommended place to stop, There is a hotel someone (maybe Kat) recommends. Anyway if you stop in either South GA or North FL you still get here refreshed cause only 4ish hours drive time.
Driving to Florida from NJ
Hi, thank you for your response. We were actually hoping for more route specific info...stopping in south GA or north Fl wouldn%26#39;t do...that%26#39;s probably over 13 hours of drive time... JB
Depends on what part of Jersey really to make it a ';half way'; stop. I%26#39;m originally from outside of Philly on the PA side. My parents recently moved to Florida, so they%26#39;ve now made the trip a couple times driving. They usually stop in Wilson, NC, which from where we were outside Philly was about 6 hours. Then onto Orlando was about 10. Nice thing is that if you DO get caught in that DC traffic, you won%26#39;t have too much driving to do that day once you get past it. Really, just try to time it so that you%26#39;re not hitting either the Philly or the Balt/Wash areas around morning or evening rush hours and you%26#39;ll be okay.
Thanks..we%26#39;ll be leaving from North Jersey..upper Bergen County..so we%26#39;d tack on another 2 hrs on our ride..thanks for the help.. JB
Then it sounds like it%26#39;s a good spot for you. I think there%26#39;s a Fairfield they stay at right off the highway.
There have been at least two similar posts recently.
Use the search engine...I will try to bump them up.
Not sure where in NJ you%26#39;re at but my parents live in PA (Allentown area) and if I drive up, I drive 95N to 26W towards Columbia and take 77N to 81N. I know you could probrably take 76 over to Harrisburge then hit that route. It%26#39;s a little further for me but I%26#39;d drive that anyday over the beltway. I avoid it like the plaugue. It%26#39;s also a very scenic route. Maybe this help. When I drive down from PA, I drive to south of Roanoke and get a room then drive the remainder the following day. That way I%26#39;m functional when I get home.
