live crabs

Kaylums%26#39; message reminded me that I would love to cook crab while we are there in a couple of weeks. Do any of the groceries have live crabs or perhaps Timbers fish market? We love crabbing too, but I think we don%26#39;t have the collective patience to catch our dinner! If they are available, about how much do they cot?

Thanks for the help!

Local crabs can%26#39;t be kept live. Blues will kill and eat each other (I did say on the other post that they were quite aggressive, didn%26#39;t I?). Stone crabs can%26#39;t be taken, only one of their claws can be harvested (they grow back). I have seen stone claws in Timbers, Baileys and Jerrys in season - not sure of prices. Blues can sometimes be purchased fresh and always available frozen at a number of the fish markets just before Ft. Myers Beach. Blues are also what are softshells (when they molt) and those may be available as well. Not sure about prices - I always catch my own (or I go hungry!!)
