Marriott South Beach vs. Marriott Oceanfront

From the reviews, the Marriott Oceanfront sounds like a more pleasant hotel than the Marriott South Beach. Though I%26#39;ve also read that Oceanfront is a $10 cab ride from the restaurants/club, whereas Marriott South Beach is within walking distance from it all. How true is this? If we stay at the Marriott South Beach does that mean we don%26#39;t have to take the taxis to get to the restaurants and clubs? I%26#39;d like to stay at the nicer hotel but I also like to be closer to the happenings. Is it worth it to stay at the less raved hotel (the Marriott South Beach) b/c of its location?

The Marriott at 2/Ocean is the better location. The renovations to the pool area are delicious!!!

Just to confirm. You are saying that the Marriott Oceanfront off of Collins is the better option? So just because the Marriott South beach is closer to the city, we may be better off staying at the Marriott Oceanfront?

To be clearer -

There are Marriotts at 4101 Collins (far from the restaurants etc), at 1530 Washington (not on the water but has roof pool), and 3925 Collins Ave (also too far away) - BUT the one I am talking about is at 161 Ocean Drive and this one is the hotel closest to restaurants and does not require taxis and or a rented car. All you would want to do is within walking distance or via a 25 cent shuttle bus that picks you up at Washington Ave.

Unfortunately the Marriott on 161 Ocean Drive is a little bit over our budget. A whole bunch of us girls are coming down for a bachelorette party and we are looking to stay at a budget friendly place =)

What do you think about the one off of Washington Ave? Is it in a good location as far as bars, clubs, and restaurants are concerned? Are they all within walking distance?

Are you using Marriott rewards? If not, AG is 100% correct

about the Ocean Drive location and pricewise you can do better at the Strand or Savoy with a one bedroom suite.
