creepy crawlies.....

we are arriving in orlando next wednesday, and need to know what is flying or crawling at this time of year. Saw mention of love bugs, but nothing about the dreaded cockroach.

creepy crawlies.....

cockroaches will always be around, no matter what time of year, in areas that are less desirable. stay out of those areas and you shouldn%26#39;t have a problem. there%26#39;s been lots of rain lately, so there are a few mosquitos, but it%26#39;s not a huge problem.

creepy crawlies.....

Yes, you have a few mosquitoes to contend with almost any time of year in Florida, but spraying does occur in most populated areas.

Love Bugs won%26#39;t arrive until September and possibly late September.

Palmetto bugs are often mistaken for roaches, but they are not roaches per se. They are also around all the time and can be creepy, but most places do spray for them as well.

What about spiders? aaarrrggghhhh!!!!

Yes, spiders are everywhere too. They love warm, moist climates like Orlando, but most of the time, you barely notice them.

That%26#39;s not to say you won%26#39;t see any, especially around resorts that have ';garden-like'; settings, but they aren%26#39;t overruning the place.

Most resort spray regularly for common insect pests.

Palmetto bugs?!?! Do these come inside? Am staying in a villa and am petrified of all types of bugs.

Yes, Palmetto bugs do come inside when given the chance.

However, if the villa is ';sealed up'; well, they usually won%26#39;t come in that easily.

Let me rephase that Palmetto bugs aren%26#39;t your ';typical'; house roach that you normally think of, but they are in the roach family.

dear sweet jusus, decided to google ';palmetto bugs';, thinking they would be rather lovely exotic creatures, but they are just giant american cockroaches!!! If if wanted to hunt game, i would have gone on safari. am bringing bicycle clips and a beekepers hat and thats just for bed! If you hear hysterical screaming from the top of I-drive, it will be me running for the hills.

We have bugs here -- lots of %26#39;em, and a lot of them bite.

That isn%26#39;t intended to make you screech or squirm -- but it is what it is.

Roaches and palmetto bugs aren%26#39;t everyday occurrences, but they aren%26#39;t uncommon, either.

Katiem111 you made me laugh with your plans for handling our palmetto bugs. If you are staying in a good hotel you won%26#39;t have any problems with them, you probably won%26#39;t ever even see one while visiting.

They are mainly in heavily wooded area and places where maintenance is not kept up.

My gr. grandmother was from County Mayo, I have always dreamed of someday going to visit and see where my family was from...

Enjoy your holiday....
