We are suppose to leave Wednesday evening and arrive in Orlando Thursday morning. We have a layover in Atlanta on Thursday morning. We are going to wait and see what happens with Fay tomorrow.
It%26#39;s hard to tell from Arizona exactly what Fay is doing in Florida! We are heading to WDW thru Sunday.
Thanks for the help!
Should we go with Fay??
I would go. It%26#39;s JUST a tropical storm. At the most, you%26#39;ll have trouble with your layover...oh, and it%26#39;ll be kind of rainy. Might be best to get to the airport early and try and see if you change your route if it happens to be over Atlanta.
And go to www.weather.com. Type in Orlando, FL. You can find out what%26#39;s going on.
I know it seems extreme, but seriously, it%26#39;s not a hurricane, it%26#39;s a tropical storm. It%26#39;s like a blizzard happening in my neck of the woods, sure, you get delayed a bit, but give it a day (if that) and things will be back to normal.
Should we go with Fay??
GO.
Disney has hurricane ride-out crews in place who will have the parks up and running within a day. That%26#39;s how it was with the hurricane that came through here four years ago. Charlie? Fredrick? Ivan? Can%26#39;t remember the name. The only park that was down more than a day was Animal Kingdom, and that was because the park is so expansive it took longer to clear it. My brother and his family came down right after the hurricane and he said he%26#39;d never come back because he%26#39;ll never match how perfect everything was. He not only walked onto EVERY ride in every park, he pretty much was able to ride over and over until he wanted to get off because no one was waiting in line to ride when he got back to the loading area. At every meal they had 11 servers helping them because there were virtually no other people in the restaurant.
A hurricane makes previous guests leave early, later guests postpone, and keeps the locals home cleaning up the mess. Generally speaking.
I should have added that I don%26#39;t think it is going to be a big deal, my husband is FREAKING out :) He sees the 3-day cone prediction is that it is going to be hanging out in Florida for a few days.
I guess I am thinking it is going to be far enough away from Orlando where he thinks we are going to be right in the center of it. That%26#39;s why I thought I would ask you guys!
Thanks
Right now it%26#39;s just lots of rain and some wind. I live on the east coast directly across from Orlando and the center of the storm passed by at 2AM. I slept right thru it. I was able to go to work yesterday %26amp; will be going in today.
They had closed Orlando airport yesterday, they will probably reopen soon. My inlaws had their flight rescheduled by the airline until Thursday. Not sure if Atlanta will be affected. It will probably be Friday before / if it gets there. Try www.accuweather.com. It will show you the storm and the radar for the area. You can also call your airline to see if any changes are being made to the schedule, especially since flights were pushed back from Tuesday.
It will probably still be cloudy %26amp; rainy when you get here but should clear up pretty quickly once the storm moves further north.
As everyone else said......you should come! If anything, it will be cloudy and not so hot. You may get some rain, but only probably the first day or so. After the storm moves north.........the weather will be fine. We have afternoon thunderstorms that are way worse than a tropical storm. So.....don%26#39;t worry. Come and enjoy yourself. The radar picture can be very intimidating looking at it, but it%26#39;s really not bad. :o)
Kat just posted on the kennedy space center post that they expect heavy rain til saturday now. Since you are from Arizona, can you reschedule? I would not want to spend that kind of money for lots of rain, but thats just me.
We are in a holding pattern...we have family from Wisconsin that are already down there over by Tampa...so spending the money is more than just going to Disney! If it was just hubby and I wanting to go, we would cancel for sure...but we don%26#39;t get to see the family all that much.
Thanks again! I%26#39;ll keep you posted when we make our decision!
Watch Fox/Cnn for weather updates.
but next time you book, don%26#39;t book during hurican season if hubby is afraid. After all, that why it is cheaper. Tell him to pull the wallet out if he isn%26#39;t satisfied.
Not like you don%26#39;t know when HC season is as you live in the lower 48.
Due to the current track, Fay is supposed to make land fall again around Palm Coast then head due West. This storm is a beast! Have had more rain then I care to see for the rest of the year here. It%26#39;s coming down in buckets outside right now. Orlando isn;t being as effected as us on the East Coast. But this storm is toltally unpredictable and a very slow mover so be careful and pay close attention to the weather forecast. I thought...hey it%26#39;s just a Tropical Storm, we%26#39;ll be fine but looks like this thing is going to at some point or another reach the entire state. She%26#39;s the 4th most rain producing storm of all time in the state of Florida.
Ditto Iadhm! School has been cancled three days in a row! I will bee surprised if we go back to school on Fri. Today we have had more rain than the last two days here in Titusville. It%26#39;s pouring with the windy, sidways rain right now. Lots of flooding especially down in south brevard. No One expected this storm to such a soaker! Orlando should be slightly better, but I think rain is going to hang around for a few more days. Hopefully it will be better by Sun. Should be back to normal by Mon. No matter what you%26#39;ll still have fun!!!
