Pelican? Hilton? Nice beach resort, not too $$

Hi all - Planning a trip to the Ft. Lauderdale area in mid-September and will be spending a night in Ft. Lauderdale (then to a Marlins/Phillies game in Miami and rest of trip in Jupiter). So - want a nice place to stay on the beach with a nice pool. Don%26#39;t really care if it is near anything - we will have a car.

I%26#39;m on the fence between the Pelican or maybe the Hilton? Want something under $200 - any other suggestions?

The Lago Mar might suit.

I assume you know that the Hilton is across the street from the beach, not on it. Also most if not all the big Fort Lauderdale hotels charge for parking so you will need to factor that in. I think the average for the big hotels is around $20 a night.

Both hotels mentioned are great properties. The Pelican Grand is directly on the beach with a nice pool and lazy river. It has a veranda on the ocean side with tables for dining outside. As long as you have a car, it%26#39;s great because it%26#39;s not withing walking distance to anything.

The Hilton is brand new - just opened last year. Not sure what sort of rate you%26#39;ll get there, but it%26#39;s certainly worth trying for. As Sue said, they do charge for parking, but I love the pool area! The hotel is across the street from the beach, but it%26#39;s easy to get to.

Just so you know, you won%26#39;t have to go into the heart of Miami for the Marlins/Phillies game. Joe Robbie Stadium (as I will ALWAYS call it), is just south of the Broward County line and is easily accessible from Fort Lauderdale.

Enjoy your stay!!
