Status of Parrot Key Resort

Hi, I know this has been discussed at bit, however, PK resort is now open for business.I have called the resort several times to inquire as to its readiness. I would love to know from some Key Westerners how things look. My husband and I have reservations for June 8th. We are really looking forward to our trip I would hate to have a problem upon arrival. Thanks in advance!!

I spoke to a friend who is invovled with this resort over the weekend about this place and it is open but they are still doing work. About 1/2 of the rooms are done and I think he said something about the bar and/or restaurant not being done. He thought it should all be done in about a 3 weeks to a month.

I wonder if the pool will be open to locals....they seem to be drying up

I doubt it. They are trying to sell those places for a pretty penny and I do not think the owners would be too pleased if that was the case.

From the outside, driving by it looks nice and fairly %26#39;clustered%26#39; together. Can%26#39;t really gauge when they%26#39;ll open but the landscaping is almost over the top!

Q - neeed a pool for locals? call me.

I haven%26#39;t been to KW in a couple of months (heading down this Saturday) but when I was there last the Parrot Key required a lot more work to make it, in my view, a place I%26#39;d want to stay. Much can happen in a couple of months, but I recommend that you get more detailed information regarding the status of the place. I would not want to spend my vacation fighting construction dust and listening to trucks, hammers and drills all day. I hope it%26#39;s a nonissue, but I%26#39;d check it out.

I leave for Parrot Key on Friday. They telephoned me last week and assured me pools are open, rooms are fine, but the Tiki Bar is not complete, although there will be light refreshments and drinks available at the pool, just not a Tiki Bar. Said heavy construction was done and landscaping is lovely. I was encouraged enough to cancel my %26#39;just in case%26#39; other reservation. We%26#39;ll see. I promise I%26#39;ll write when we return on May 28 so you%26#39;ll know from someone who%26#39;s had the experience.

From the horse%26#39;s mouth, so to speak, all of the pools are done. The tiki bar roof will be finished tomorrow, and then construction is done. It will only be waiting for equipment. Nobody has even hinted that the workers or noise has inconvenienced them at all. Even if you aren%26#39;t staying here, drop by to take a look. It%26#39;s beautiful.

Thats basically what our friend said. There was still a lot of FF%26amp;E left to do which basically deals with the interior areas. FF%26amp;E = furniture, fixtures and equipment.

Thanks so much everyone for all your input!! I feel much better now and can%26#39;t wait to travel south!!

Truthteller: I would like to know if there are any hidden fees. Parking, resort fee etc that I am hearing about at other resorts. It does not say anything on their website stating that, but I hate surprises... Thanks have a good trip!
