Hi all you travel experts, I%26#39;m looking for a bit of advise. I%26#39;m plannning my first trip to Orlando for 15yrs with the wife and kids (13 %26amp; 9)in May/June 2009. I%26#39;ve been looking at flights from Manchester and I%26#39;ve narrowed it down to a choice of two. Virgin economy at 拢2756 or FlyThomascook Premium cabin at 拢3000. Which would you choose %26amp; why?
Also thinking of a townhouse at Windsor Hills. Any good? Thanks in advance.
Virgin or FlyThomascook
Now you can%26#39;t go wrong with virgin IMO but both haven%26#39;t had fantastic reviews on here lately...i personally would take a scheduled airline over a charter one first off (virgin flys into orlando international - am i right in thinking thomascook is in fact a charter and flys into sanford..?) if so i%26#39;d first weigh up your options as to how long it takes from each airport to your resort....
i%26#39;m sure its thomascook flights that have in fact had terrible reviews - i might be wrong but i%26#39;m 99% sure its them - type flythomascook in the search engine at the top of the forums...
Virgin or FlyThomascook
I like Thomas Cook premium (just make sure it is Thomas Cook and not Monarch plane%26#39;s they use as there%26#39;s a huge difference in comfort and service). Virgin fly into Orlando MCO and TC%26#39;s fly into Sandford
And time difference from landing to resort is about the same. you just spend more time in MCO than you do in Sanford. And car hire is much nearer at Sanford. and its easier to get in and out of , particulaly getting back in.
But you not comparing apples with apples.
To get a more acurate comparison you nee to compare economy with econmy , or preimum seating with preimum seating. Thomas Cook will give you more room in economy than Virgin although its only and inch.
';At Sanford the car hire is much nearer'; .... mmmmmm
Well lets see the Hertz, Dollar, Budget, Avis etc are directly below the baggage claim hall in MCO thats approximately 75 paces, you then have approximately 150 paces and you are loading your luggage into the car in the multi storey hire park dead opposite the desks. How on earth is Sandford closer than that ...... do they meet you at the plane?
I think you haven%26#39;t flown into MCO since all the hire cars were moved back to the terminal. You no longer go on a bus to a depot.
And it is only a matter of opinion that MCO is slower at processing you than Sandford. Personally I have wizzed through immigration and been away in no time at all, both will have good days and bad days.
Tyke - we have flown TC premium in the past and were very impressed.
We are flying Virgin economy for the first time this summer and the price is very similar to TC premium cabin. After reading some of the negative reviews on Virgin recently I wished I%26#39;d stuck with TC.
Another bonus for us is that TC fly into Sanford which, imo, is a great airport for visitors unfamiliar with the area.
Don%26#39;t let the %26#39;schedule snobs%26#39; on this forum put you off flying with TC - lol :)
Hi there Tyke
We%26#39;re not shceduled snobs...we use all companies...
Just check out our profile......
We would definately choose Virgin over TC......MCO is much closer to Orlando...than Sanford.
With Virgin you can prebook your seats as soon as you%26#39;ve booked them.
Virgin you can check in online outbound...and check in chill out at Downtown Disney on your last day allowing you to get lugagge all sorted and enjoy last afternoon.
We have had bad expereince with Thomascook...even Premium cabin I would still choose Virgin.
good luck and we hope you really enjoy that holiday !!
Dazzlers, if you so very impressed with TC why have you jumped ship to Virgin especially as the price was the same.
Your not trying to become a ';Schedule Snob'; are you..............LOL
Check out... www.airlinequality.com
They give you all the info. you would need.. to compare
Good one Tigerdaly - lol!
XR759
Ecomomy price on both was about the same. In this case I would book Virgin, no question. Just thought the extra 拢250 for premium would be worth it.
