What Disney resort to stay at Jan 2009?

I don%26#39;t know the exact dates yet because it will depend on my husband%26#39;s job, but we are planning on going to Disney (yes, again!) in Jan. Looking at allears.net and TA reviews, my heart is set on Animal Kingdom Lodge. We%26#39;re DVC members, so we will be using our points. Do you think that we will be able to get a Concierge level room (for the savannah tour!!) then or do you think they%26#39;re booked until 2020?

If we aren%26#39;t able to get AK Lodge, what would be a good second choice? For us, it will be cold then, so pools aren%26#39;t really playing a factor this time around. Just ambiance and overall awesome-ness. Wilderness Lodge? Grand Floridian? Polynesian? Has anyone used their DVC points to stay at Grand Floridian (or any other non-DVC resort)?

Oh, and I should mention that my boys will be 2 and almost 5 at that point, so I mostly trying to think of places they would really like!

Thanks!!!

I of course love and recomend the AKL ( stayed there in April and we%26#39;ll be there again in November ) but I would recomend you call Now to see what the availability will be. They are moving the Animals out of 1 of the Savannahs so that more work can be done on the new DVC units. That might make or break the deal for me

I also love the Wilderness Lodge ( we%26#39;ll be there in September ) and I Highly recomend it for anyone with kids 5 and under because of the ';so close to the Magic Kingdom '; Factor. If it is a bit Chilly, I think it makes it feel even better to be there, it%26#39;s beautiful :)

Agreed. Wilderness Lodge is great, especially for kids, even more so for boys. They also have bunk beds available. The grounds are AWESOME and the boat launch to the MK is great.

I really like the Poly. I love the grounds, love the view, can%26#39;t get enough. :)

I would normally say try the Yacht %26amp; Beach because the pool is neat, but of course in January that doesn%26#39;t mean much!!

As for the GF, I would think that you and your husband might like that one, but your boys would be boooorrrreeeddd. Not really boy-friendly. If you had 2 little girls instead, they might really like it. My mom let me pick out a resort to stay at one year, that one was my choice!!

The Contemporary might be fun, I believe they have the DVC. I%26#39;ve always wanted to stay at the Contemporary, but I%26#39;ve never gotten around to it.

Long story short, if I were you and I couldn%26#39;t do the AKL, I would try for Wilderness Lodge. Your boys will love it. AND so will you and your husband.

P.S. If I get sick of the snow, I might just decide to hop on a plane in January and come down! LOL...

Yikes, thanks for letting me know about them moving the animals out of the savannah. That would definately make or break the deal for me.

For a second choice, I was leaning towards Wilderness Lodge, but wanted other opinions. So, thank you!!

partypa, Wilderness Lodge in Jan will probably remind us of home, since we live in the Pacific NW... crisp and cool with all the gorgeous foliage.

Kat, you should get away from all that yucky snow! In Jan, you know the price is right. :)

Thanks again.
