the second of the season
bertha is brewing
oooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
bertha is brewing
Sorry lost who or what is Bertha?
Hurricane Bertha.....
Chuffed that I have a storm named after me this year!
yes, folks my actual name is Bertha.
Hope this one doesn%26#39;t turn into ';Big Bertha';!!
Bertha aka Rettie
A swirling cluster of hot air in the Atlantic. Oh sorry didn%26#39;t mean to offend anyone. It will have blown itself out by the weekend
Sounds just like me!!
Rettie
agree with B T.....will be non existent soon....no name yet... imo won%26#39;t ever make it far enough along to be named
It is barely a tropical storm with winds of 40 mph unlikely to hit land and by Tuesday it is predicted to be well east of Bermuda acording to the national huricane centre.
Someone from the north should be well used to weather like that.
Take a deep breath, everybody -- this is of yet a non-issue. It%26#39;s not very strong, and it%26#39;s expected to veer into the middle of the Atlantic where it wil be no threat to anyone except shipping concerns.
Just because it has a name does NOT mean it%26#39;s a hurricane. They name them when the winds become greater than 35 mph -- no more powerful than an afternoon squall.
Point your browser to www.nhc.noaa.gov -- that%26#39;s the official US government weather site -- our version of the Met Office.
It%26#39;s where the panicmongers of the Weather Channel and their ilk get the information that they then whip into hysteria.
Skip the panic - go to the NOAA site and read it carefully -- especially the discussion page.
as of 11pm EST (that%26#39;s 0400 on 6 July for the UK folks) -- Bertha is still out there...but NOT a hurricane, and NOT showing significant signs of intensifying...
per the www.nhc.noaa.gov discussion:
It is much too early to determine if Bertha will or will not pose a threat to any land areas.
At this point, it%26#39;s some crummy weather...but it%26#39;s NOT a hurricane -- and is only expected to become a minimal one, if it develops that far. Keep an eye on NOAA -- updates at 11 am (4.00 pm GMT), 5 pm (9.00 pm GMT), 11pm (0400 GMT), and 5 am (0900 GMT) -- if it becomes a hurricane, they%26#39;ll add an interim report at 2:00 and 8:00, both AM and PM (that%26#39;s 7:00 and 1:00 GMT)
If I were a betting girl, I%26#39;d say this one belongs to somewhere between Savannah and Charleston, based on what has been shown this far. (things change - these are organic forces, and are known to laugh in the face of forecasts...but that%26#39;s becoming rarer as technology advances.)
