Hi,
Im just so confused about all these lovely places to stay on Longboat Key %26amp; Siesta Key, Ive checked out a few of the small motel/appt type places like Sun n sea,Wicker Inn, Little Gull, Capri Inn, Palm bay,
and now ive found Vacation Retals.com who have some fantastic looking condo%26#39;s cottages etc for rent.
What we want is somewhere that looks out onto the beach, with grill%26#39;s, maybe walking distance to shop%26#39;s and dinning theres just so much choice id be gratefull if you can recommend somewhere that you have stayed, that wont cost to many $$$
Just so many nice places to chose from Heeeelp
When are you planning to visit? Some months are much more expensive than others. How long you do plan to stay? Some places have a minimum night stay.
How many bedrooms do you need and what do you consider inexpensive ($$)(in U.S. dollars)?
The Palm Bay Club is more expensive than the Capri Inn for example.

Just so many nice places to chose from HeeeelpI agree ... many choices, but much depends on when.
Siesta Key favorites: Palm Bay (fantastic beachfront but bayside units are quieter, with another pool and hot tub right on the bay) Siesta Breakers, Sandpiper Beach Resort, many more. Siesta Key has best beach -- cool, white sand, very wide, also very busy ';in season';. Limited on-key shopping, but good restaurants and ';beachy community'; feel.
Longboat Key: quieter, more residential, pretty decent ';on-key'; shopping including groceries, drug store, shops. Good restaurants, lovely beach. We%26#39;ve stayed at Sand Cay beach resort for years, good-size condos (all 2BR/2BA) website lets you see pix of all units now, right on beach, have beachfront grills, nice beach, friendly family atmosphere. Also nice is Wicker Inn (small 11 unit complex, very private pool, gorgeous grounds, very wickery furnishings, grills available I think, supposedly being torn down soon to be replaced by pricey condos. Little Gull is charming, with ';Southern Living'; type furnishings, units form a narrow corridor from beach across the street to bayside. Sun n Sea has always fascinated me -- nice grounds with lots of space between the units, but looks to be older type cottages -- not sure how well it%26#39;s been updated. Also nice is Sea Grape Inn, small complex, nice units but no pool.
You%26#39;ve narrowed it down to two outstanding keys, I think you%26#39;d love either. If you find something in particular that you have ?? about, let us know. Good luck and happy hunting!
Thankyou both so much for your reply%26#39;s
Were actually arriving the begining of September so not long away, and looking for somwhere for just the 2 of us (me %26amp; hubby) flying into Orlando and then travelling down to Sarasota area the same evening i belive it takes about 2.5hr on a good day.
Ive looked at all places along the gulf coast but LBK and SK have just got something about them that makes me think its the place for us for 10 day%26#39;s, it seems quite central as if you can travel out to a lot of places for the day sanibel up to tampa for example. Really looking forward to this trip and dont want to spoil it by making a wrong choice on our accomadation.
How much do you want to spend per night?
How long are you staying?

Hi,
7 day%26#39;s in sarasota area and 3 day%26#39;s somewhere else not sure of where yet.
at a guess id say around $150 per night.
Thanx again
There aren%26#39;t many places on Longboat where you can get everything you want for $150 night, especially beachfront. Many places aren%26#39;t in walking distance to shops and restaurants.
Litte Gull, Wicken Inn etc. are wonderful places to stay. You can read reviews under the Hotel section/specialty lodging.
The Palm Bay Club on Siesta Key might have some units in your price range, but not beachfront.
Capri Inn, is by Crescent Beach, is not expensive but is not on the beach.
Tropical Shores Resort is nice, but is a short walk to the beach. www.tropicalshores.com
Yo can look at Crescent Towers, Sea Crest Apartments, Midnight Cove-Gulfside, Sea Club V, and a few others on Siesta Key.
Look at their websites and check prices.

Sand Cay Beach Resort (on Longboat Key) runs $940 - $1129 per week ($roughly $130-160/night) in September, so it%26#39;s a great bargain time to visit! Check out sandcayresort.com -- all condos are 2 BR/2 BA, and some are nicer than others, but if you go to their website you can look at every unit available during your timeframe, and pick one. They are a beachfront complex, have a great beach and grills, nice pool, one tennis court. Complex was built in the 70s -- I%26#39;d recommend 3rd floor (units 316-320 are lovely) if you can get it, and gulf front unit or gulf view, which is a bit further from the pool. In September it should be quiet, however, the entire complex has been getting a facelift over the past two years and there may be some construction during that time -- I would ASK to be sure. They are not within walking distance to shops and restaurants, but have a Hilton with a decent restaurant right next door, and within a 2 mile drive of the grocery store and about 5 miles to St. Armond%26#39;s circle with lots of shops and restaurants. Check it out.
Incidently, what part of the UK are you from? We used to live in Cobham (Surrey) back in the late 80%26#39;s.
