hi all, what ,in general , are the locals fishing for off the bridges in the lower keys ? when we were there in late june early july they seemed to be packed !when we returned in early sep there were very few,i realise that june is very good for tarpon ,but i can not imagine that is what they are after thanks malachay
fishing on bridges ?
Typically, it%26#39;s all about the grill. Snapper and other edible fish that make a tasty lunch or dinner.
fishing on bridges ?
BTW - Florida residents can fish from shore (includes bridges, piers etc) without having to have a fishing license. Pretty cool eh?
thanks seabus ,i will have to have a go at that! get my license first, though malachay
I dont think they were tarpon fishing off a bridge. Tarpon is typically something you have to chase.
Snappers and Grunts are what most people catch off the bridges, but just about everything swims back and forth between the Gulf and the Atlantic. When I was alot younger I used to fish the bridges for tarpon quite a bit, it is VERY challenging but not impossible. Just to ';jump'; a few a night and we were doing well. Keep in mind that fishing regulations are enforced and mind your size limits.
