november bugs??

Hi everyone,

I have found a riverfront rental house in Ormond beach, haven%26#39;t done anything about it yet, very early stages of planning (Today only) But it does look nice, it%26#39;s on vrbo. Need to do more research, contact owner etc when I%26#39;m nearer to booking. Ages away yet. but the pool doesn%26#39;t have a lanai and I%26#39;m nervous about bugs on the riverfront in November. Eating on the pool deck is what we want for a week, but not to be eaten alive ourselves. Last time we tried soooo many restaurants, this time I want to cook %26#39;at home%26#39; and try the %26#39;one or two%26#39; places we missed last time, Hoosier2%26#39;s Traders, is top of the list, with the highly reccomended wings, felt bad we didn%26#39;t get round there last trip!! sorry hoosier2.

Anyway it is still early stages, I checked on TA forums and think the weather can be still be warm in nov, does anyone know if it will be warm this November?...ONLY KIDDING :-)))

Many thanks

november bugs??

It%26#39;s good to see you again. I missed your fun posts. Novemeber can be still be warm in Daytona but it just depends on what %26#39;ol man weather decides to do. We were in Winter Park on Thanksgiving several years back, it is only 50 miles almost due west of DB, on the outskirts of Orlando. That is close enough to Daytona to get a good idea of weather. It was real warm first day then next day we needed a light jacket in the evening. I wanted to swing by DB so bad but hubby said we just didn%26#39;t have the time as we were drivng and were behind schedule in order for him to be back at work on time. It was kind of a rushed trip. Our son was in college there and we had taken him some furniture in our van. I still can%26#39;t believe he felt he couldn%26#39;t take a few hours to do that! I bet you know how disappointed I felt. I wish I could remember who it is but one of the regulars in our forum owns property in Ormond Beach and I%26#39;ll bet they could really help you with info about what you are looking at.

november bugs??

Hi punz,

Yeah, we are having a very bad/wet %26#39;summer%26#39; here in the uk, and my only joy is reading all the forum stuff to keep me warm!! But nothing to add to all the lovely posts, just drooling over them. staring across to the sea through the rain. (I live in a seaside town, but it ain%26#39;t DB!!)

I can imagine you being so close to DB and yet so far, Aaah! Men do tend to stick to the plot don%26#39;t they, sometimes they are no fun :-(

I%26#39;d love to hear from anyone with a pool home on a canal on this forum, if anyone reads this. we are looking for something a bit %26#39;nice%26#39; if I%26#39;m going to have to cook! Like a home from home%26#39;ish. Newly refurbished or something like that. I have seen one I like but pictures sometimes can fool you, or not.

It%26#39;s only for 2 of us for our wedding anniversary. Midges and mozzy%26#39;s not invited while we are dining under the stars, eating home cooked wings and ribs(Oh No there I go again!!!) by the pool on the boat dock!!! So a canal/riverfront would be perfect.

Anyway as I said we are just talking today, this could all change. (The planning is exciting though isn%26#39;t it?) You of all people know where I%26#39;m coming from Punz. x

LOL, yes I sure do know how fun the planning is! All kinds of ideas and thoughts to check out. You are right about men sticking to their plot but I will admit we had over a thousand mile drive back home. We didn%26#39;t fly that time because we were taking some furniture to our son. Actually I like to cook some when we go to DB too. We get a suite with a full kitchen. I don%26#39;t mind to cook near as much on vacation as I do at home. Breakfasts are quick to fix, just a fresh cheese omelet, toast and fresh orange juice. Lunch you can grab anywhere or fix a sandwich in the room. It%26#39;nice to come in from the beach or pool and not have to put dry clothes on to go out. Dinner you can grill a quick steak, throw a potato in the microwave and fix a salad. On the nights you don%26#39;t feel like cooking, well, you know, those ribs and wings you so longingly talk about, LOL. I hope it all works out for your anniversary. You might get more results if you post a new thread with ';anyone own property in OB%26#39;? or something like that. You could also do that on the actual TA OB site but you know us in here better, we won%26#39;t stear you wrong :) and as you said, info can be decieving. Please keep me posted with the planning

punz

Punz,

You do talk my language every time, I am there!!! yum yum! You are right Breakfast and dinner by the pool/balcony/ that is what we want this time. Last time I think we went on a mission to find the best places to eat, I was all fooded out when I got back to the UK, I immediately went on a diet and lost 2 stone...seriously! Oh I love Florida, it%26#39;s so good for me. But Steak (man cooking) and salad/potato sounds great.

We had a look at OB on google earth last night, and hubby thinks it might be a bit too far up from DB. We are also looking to go to Old Town to see all the old cars, just for a day out. I%26#39;m still sifting through vrbo - so many. we have to decide lanai or no lanai? Beachfront or river? then we can be more specific, I don%26#39;t want to mess people around until we are sure of our dates and decisions. Also you have Thanksgiving on the week we were looking at, and that really pushes the rental charges up, so we are looking around different dates. All the serious stuff will begin about mid October time. We will know more then. But I will keep busy on here till then.

What kind of bugs are you worried about? Not many mosquitos in November if that is your question. Great temperatures in November as well.

Great wing ideas? Try the ';Wally Wings'; at Houligan%26#39;s, they grill them after they fry them. My personal favorite! Did you mean to write Hooter%26#39;s?

Also, great seafood shop on Granada Blvd. (SR 40) that sells every kind of seafood imagineable. You can buy it and take it back to the house to cook. It%26#39;s called Hull%26#39;s Seafood.

Richoneday

Hi, yes it was mosquitos, so if they are not around at that time of year that is all I ask, thanks.

Hoosier2 is a poster on this forum who swears by Aku Tiki %26#39;Traders%26#39; wings. But I know and love Hooters too!

Thanks for the seafood tip, I don%26#39;t eat seafood.

But I%26#39;m sure others will love that tip on here.

Must check out Houligan%26#39;s next time.
