We%26#39;re thinking of staying at Hampton Pointe Orlando for 10 nights (good reviews) then Disney Caribbean Beach Hotel for 4 Nights (mixed reviews) - anyone got any opinion on this hotel? Also thought about spending a day at Daytona - is it worthwhile? Poss also Cocoa Beach? Any suggestions/advice would be great, ta!
Advice Please!
Hi Cat
Can%26#39;t help you with your hotels but regarding Daytona beach, go for it! We drove up there from Disney for one day and it was one of the best days of our holiday. Had a wonderful time. Everything is on the beach that you could need, there%26#39;s places to park - free of charge, unlike the UK!
The cost of things there is so cheap, my hubby hired a surf board for 拢5 for one hour! Our kids had such fun.
The beach was so clean and there were lifeguards, two of them, keeping a very, very close eye on the water.
Some parts of Daytona were a bit ';shabby'; but I%26#39;d still say it%26#39;s worth a day trip.
I%26#39;ve heard Cocoa Beach is even better, but I%26#39;ve not been.
We found a fantastic diner at D%26#39; - not on the main coast road, it was called Rosie%26#39;s diner I think - but it was superb. Like home cooked food, I had a salad, it was wonderful. The staff were so welcoming and attentive, true good American hospitality. I can%26#39;t find it on TA to write a review unfortunately!
Do a beach though, after we%26#39;d been, we wished we%26#39;d stayed at the beaches as so much better than Disney!
Advice Please!
Depends what you want from a beach, and what time of year you are going. If you wat to surf and colder water go Daytona -Cocoa.
If you want lovey warm water tropil Coral white sand go to St Petes beach, Fort De Sota , Saista Beach.
If its the winter period go to the gulf coast.
I dont like Dayton Beach its more like Blackpool on the beach. You ar more likely to get knocked down on the beach than walking across the road. With the constant run of cars up and down. Its almost as busy as the M25, with nearly as many cars parked on it..
Caribbean Beach Resort is a great place.
If you look up ANY hotel anywhere, you will find mixed reviews.
If you are looking for room service, turn-down service, 5-star dining, plush bathrobes and private balconies you will be disappointed ... but if you are looking for a pretty and relaxing and clean Disney resort with a beach theme, then you will love it there.
You%26#39;re right - everyone%26#39;s got a different idea of what%26#39;s good %26amp; what%26#39;s not! Daytona/Daytona Beach - what should I expect/what%26#39;s there to see and do? Good for teenagers? We%26#39;d be going end March. Ta!
Caribbean Beach Resort is a good hotel. There is nothing wrong with it.
Daytona Beach is great for teenagers. There is plenty to do and see. The boardwalk is great. There are a lot of restaurants and shops. I prefer Daytona to Cocoa, but that%26#39;s just me. Cocoa has Ron Jon Surf Shop.
That said, if I had 4 days to go to the beach with teenagers......I would choose Clearwater on the Gulf Side. I think the beaches are better. :o)
Check out these websites to see what each beach has to offer:

Not much to do in either other than the beach itself: Daytona has more restaurants and the Nascar history/tours ---- Cocoa has Cape Caneveral NASA which is very interesting. Cocoa is closer, but daytona is bigger --- not impressed with the accomodations in either city, as most of the hotels are pretty old. But after disney/universal, you will enjoy a quiet day at the beach.
We stayed at the Caribbean Beach last year and it is a lovely resort, the main pool rehab will be finished soon as well.
The Daytona Beach area has so much to offer, it is our favorite beach in FL. Beautiful water, nice waves, you can actually drive (10 mph limit) on parts of the beach with a small fee, rent ATVs, or golf carts to ride on the beach, parasail, Ponce Inlet lighthouse, Aunt Catfish%26#39;s on the river for lunch, Angel and Phelps free chocolate factory tour (maybe half hour) with free sample, Speedway track tour with IMAX, greyhound racing, giant flea market, Ocean Walk, etc.
If you decide to stay overnight in the DB area, the Aku Tiki Inn (Best Western) has beautiful rooms, lush grounds, large pool, right on the beautiful beach, manager%26#39;s free happy hour each evening at the attached Trader%26#39;s restaurant, great staff, shuffle board, basketball goal, grassy area, balconies, I believe rated number one in the area right now on TA reviews.
The Carribean Beach Resort is my husband%26#39;s favorite moderate resort. Nice central location and no sharing of busses. It is a bit spread out though, so you might want to look at a map if you want to be close to the food court/main pool area.
I think that tne negative revues are probably due the the fact that, considering their price, the rooms themselves aren%26#39;t much to get excited about especially when compared to what nearly $200 will get you offsite. They%26#39;re cute and clean, just not fancy. I looked at it as paying extra for the convenience, extra hours and transportation rather than for super luxe room furnishings.
7 DAYS!
Jennifer
