All Clear! (Mostly)

Fay came ashore south of Naples as a moderate TS and Sanibel has suffered no damage, outages or storm surge. By noon today all watches will be suspended.

Have a great shelling day!

That is great news. Thanks for the update.

Here%26#39;s a quick link from the Ft Myers News Press:

Excellent news and thanks for update hope the shelling is awesome!

Well, I%26#39;d glad it missed, but shelling - well who knows. The winds on Sanibel should have been off shore rather than the desired on shore direction. I%26#39;d try Lighthouse beach and the spoil island first.

So glad all is well. If any of the evacuees could let us know how the return to the rental units will be handled, we%26#39;d all appreciate knowing.

I%26#39;m sooo glad. We have been watching from afar...and hoping Sanibel would be missed..someone pick up a Junonia for me!

Tourmaline:

Looking forward to hearing back from you about the shelling! I was thinking about flying down just for the shelling so if you have a report that the shelling was not fantastic, well, you will make me feel better about not getting down there today!

Thanks in advance! Glad everything is OK on the island as far as property and human damage.

:-) I%26#39;d love to know about the shelling myself. I live in the NYC area, so all I can do was look at the beachcams, and they never show shells. Wish they did.

Tourmaline:

OMG! I misread your post, I thought you were reporting FROM the island! I guess we both will

have to wait for a shelling report from someone

else!

Thanks! :)

The winds, such as they are at this point, should be switching to onshore. Maybe good shelling for awhile, but we%26#39;ll wait for an on site report.

The island businesses and officials did a great job of preparations and assisting our island guests to and through safety.

Many of those that left yesterday to spend the night inland are returning to the island today.

Having worked on these islands so many years, I%26#39;m glad to report the islands look beautiful today and the Gulf breeze is very refreshing.

This is wonderful news thanks for keeping us all posted!
