Has anyone stayed here? Any comments? Looks nice on it%26#39;s web site and reviews are decent.
Also, do you have to take company tour to snorkel? Or can you go by yourself in the state park?
Rock Reef ResortI haven%26#39;t stayed there so can%26#39;t comment on the resort - but it does get nice reviews here. It%26#39;s in a good location.
I can shed more light on the snorkel question! Our reef is several miles off shore so the best snorkelling is by boat. You can go with lots of different companies. I like the one that runs out of Pennekamp state park becuase the boats are really big. But you don%26#39;t have to go with them. There is a little area in the park where you can snorkel. There%26#39;s some cannon there and a few fish. It%26#39;s good to get your face in the water but it%26#39;s not the same as going by boat.
Rock Reef ResortWe stayed there in July and loved it. The dock on the gulf is a great place to unwind after a long day. Not a resort by some people%26#39;s standards, but that is why we loved it. We stayed in the beachfront cottage and the room was great. The snorkeling in the gulf was not good though (hard to compare to the other snorkel and scuba sites we saw during our trip). Ballyhoos across the street was awesome, as well as a gasstaion convience store within walking distance. We will be going back!
Thanks alot! Sounds like a good place for us. We want to snorkel, kayak, jet ski, maybe hike a little, then drive to Key West and check it out one day. We will definately take a charter snorkeling.
