Spending the day with Fay
Hey partypa,
Some of pictures show very dark clouds :o(
Lets hope it passes by relatively quickly for everyone!.
thanks for the link =)
I wonder why those things have female names!!!
It%26#39;s not always a female name ... the names Charlie, and Ivan spring to mind as some of the more prominent hurricanes.
It alternates. Every other storm has a female name. Conversely, every other storm has a male name. And they start opposite every year. So this year started with a male name since Fay is female. (A, C, E, G are male...B, D, F, H are female this year, etc.) Oh, and it%26#39;s opposite in the Pacific Ocean. So this year%26#39;s F storm in the Pacific was a male name.
Ahh - I always wondered how they named them. Thanks for that. Thought it either just made up or more scientific!
I should put up a webcam outside my house so you can see my palm trees swaying in the breeze. :) It%26#39;s pretty nasty here today, but no really severe weather in east Orlando. Just some wind and rain, with a few strong gusts thrown in here and there. I was out near the Disney area today (at the Orlando World Marriott), and the weather out there was similar to what I%26#39;ve seen at home this afternoon. Seriously, though, we are probably going to have some pretty bad beach erosion on our east coast, thanks to Fay. :(
So do you locals there think the worst will be over tomorrow night ?
We are flying into Sanford then ...
I hate to say this, but I think that it will be worse for the area of central and northeastern Florida tomorrow into tomorrow night. By that time, Fay will have likely have either 1) exited the coast and gone into the Atlantic, where it very likely will strengthen; 2) Start making a turn toward the north, then northwest, then west coming back over the Orlando area again, depending upon how much time it is over water; or have done both. Any scenario, I think the coast from Vero Beach to Jacksonville and the inland areas between may see weather a bit worse than today. Check with your airlines as to their limit on wind speeds before they cancel flights. I think I remember that it is around 40 mph sustained, but that may be wrong.
