If traveling by car in FL until labor day, FHP checkpoints

The Florida Highway Patrol is on the look out for drunk drivers 鈥?more so than usual. Along with thousands of other law enforcement and highway safety agencies across the nation, the Florida Highway Patrol is taking part in a program called Drunk driving. Over the limit. Under arrest. The program began last Friday and will continue through the Labor Day holiday. During the next two weeks the Florida Highway Patrol will be conducting more sobriety checkpoints as well as selective enforcement patrols throughout the state to catch drunk drivers. In 2006, there were over 22,000 alcohol related crashes in Florida, so be prepared and drive smart.
