Should i stay 1 or 2 nights in sarasota?

Hi,

i will be in florida for 1 week in october.

I will stay the first 3 nights in Miami and then drive to Sarasota. I am not sure if i should stay 1 or 2 nights. After Sarasota i want to stay a night in Clearwater and then drive to the east coast.

Any suggestions if a 1 night stay is too short?

Should i stay 1 or 2 nights in sarasota?

Tommy,

The beaches here are the best on the SW coast of FL.

I would suggest 2 nights.

It will take you over 3 hours to get from Miami to Sarasota/Siesta Key. Are you staying on South Beach?

Other than the 3 nights in Miami, it sounds like you%26#39;ll be spending most of your time on the road and in a car.

So, 3 nights in Miami, 2 nights in Sarasota...you only have 2 days left and I assume one of those days will be used to travel to the airport.

Is there a reason you are going to Clearwater and the east coast?

Which airport will you be leaving out of to go home?

SRQgirl,

Thanks for your reply.

I will be staying in South Beach.

My idea is to stay the first 3 nights in miami, then go to the west coast (Sarasota, Clearwater). After 2 or 3 nights drive to the east coast, stay there 1 or 2 nights and then head back to Miami, where my flight leaves at 9pm.

On the east coast i would like to stay at Hutchinson Island which is according to google maps 4 hours away from Clearwater and 2 hours from miami.

I will meet a friend for the last 2 or 3 nights, but it doesn%26#39;t matter if we meet in Clearwater or Sarasota.

Is there any big difference in Clearwater and Sarasota?

OK. If you%26#39;re staying in South Beach, you%26#39;ll be seeing lots of night life! ;-)

Clearwater is much more developed and commercialized when compared to Sarasota. We have better beaches.

More night life in Clearwater..also more traffic.

It%26#39;s about 1 1/2 hours north of Sarasota.

Without offending anyone, Sarasota is a classier town.

Hutchinson Island? Why?

I guess it depends on what you%26#39;re looking for.

Miami and South Beach have the most nightlife/clubs etc.... Great restaurants and world class shopping.

Oh, did I mention world class models?

I guess i have the commerialized and night life part already in Miami Beach.

How far is the beach from downtown Sarasota? I will be staying in the Hyatt.

I have read before that Clearwater is more touristy then Sarasota.

To Hutchinson Island:

I was looking for a place which is in the middle of Miami and Cape Canaveral and i stumbled across the Marriott Hutchinson Island, which looked really nice. I was able to get a good rate. My rate is cancelable if you you have any better suggestions then Hutchinson Island, you are welcome.

Do you think my trip involves too much driving?

The Hyatt is about a 5 minute drive to the beach on Lido Key. St. Armands Circle is near the beach and had dining and shopping. Nice place to walk around and eat at a sidewalk cafe. Downtown Sarasota has dining/bars too for night life....

Are you planning to go Cape Canaveral for the day?

You might like Ft. Lauderdale or Palm Beach.

Hutchinson Island is nice. Don%26#39;t know what you%26#39;re looking for.

Yes, I think you%26#39;re doing too much driving. But, it%26#39;s your road trip...;-)

You convinced me of staying 2 nights longer Sarasota. I will make a day trip to Clearwater from Sarasota instead of staying in Clearwater.

I am planning to go to Cape Canaveral for the day.

Do you how much time visiting the space center takes?

Ft. Lauderdale or Palm Beach seems to be too much driving for one day. I am just looking for a nice hotel at the beach and the Marriott seems to be a good choice.

The Marriott at Hutchinson Island is a great choice.

You will enjoy it. It is near Stuart, Fl which is one of the better towns on the east coast of FL, IMO.

The Kennedy Space Center is very interesting and quite large. It could take at least 3 -4 hours to see. It really depends on you. There is a lot of information on the internet and TA about what the Center has to offer.

Each area of FL has it%26#39;s own points of interest.

Less driving will give you a chance to look around, enjoy the scenery and mingle with the locals.

3 to 4 hours at Cape Canaveral, then it is going to be a long day.

Another option would be to stay in Palm Beach or Fort Lauderdale and watch the Miami Dolphins play the next day instead of visiting Cape Canaveral and staying at Hutchinson Island.

There are so many options to choose from....

That is a good thing..You won%26#39;t be bored.

You will run out of time before you run out of things to do.

Maybe you need 2 weeks! ;-)
