Key West Sailing Adventure

Have been reading this site in great anticipation of our trip to Key West. We are in Key Largo for 2 days then want to spend the weekend in Key West with our 2 15 yr olds. Early March. It%26#39;s expensive! I%26#39;ve found Key West Sailing Adventures which offer overnight accommodation onboard a sailboat and a 1/2 day sailing trip. Cant find any comments on this one way or the other? Is anyone familiar with them?

Cheers

Key West Sailing Adventure

Update on Key West Sailing Adventure - sailboat accommodation right at Dock E in the marina on a 36 O%26#39;Day. Location, Location, Location. This was a great location to spend a few days in Key West. We were on Dock E which provided us with great access for walking around KW and meeting an electic group of boaters; a wonderful supply store right across from us. The evenings on the water were wonderful, quiet - didnt even hear the noise from Schooners Wharf...Boat needs a few things updated such as a blender etc, however for unique accommodation in Key West that provides you with a great location to wander I would suggest you investigate this as an option. We did do a 1/2 day sail out to the reef for snorkeling however due to the extreme wind we didnt have good visibilty - cant control the weather and we didnt have enough time in Key West to change to another date. Overall a good experience.

Headding to KW in a couple months and I booked with KWSA. Was wondering which of their boats you stayed on? Obsession or Wildthing? Talked with the owner and he indicated that both boats had been refitted in the last couple years so for now we%26#39;re booked on the O%26#39;day ';Obsession';.

thanks

I normally would really hesitate before writing anything negative but our recent long weekend in Key West started out so unfortunately that I would like to spare others the same fate. It went wrong because we had booked three days on the Obsession with Key West Sailing Adventures. The boat may be ok for a sailing excursion but don%26#39;t even think about staying on board. To begin with the cabin hadn%26#39;t been cleaned, there was an overpowering smell of diesel inside and the a/c (highly necessary ) was not sufficient to really cool the vessel especailly if you need to open the tiny porthole windows just so you can breathe. What is also not mentioned when you make a booking is that the onboard head can only be used to a very limited extent requiring passengers to walk to the shore to use public facilities. This is for showering, washing ,toilet etc. (The sink was broken on board ). Considering the cost involved it would make much more sense for most people to find a local B%26amp;B.

Just to add insult to injury, it has taken us over six weeks of arguing with the owner and the credit card company just to get our money back.

Open Sesame!

Sounds like West Palm had a serious problem. Do you just

canel the whole things and stayed somewhere else?

In response the ';West Palm Beach'; I am sorry you had an off trip. i remember you well. You left Key West The night you got there none of us could make you happy. You called me and said that you drove back the same night. I am happy to say you are one out of 500.I have dozens of letters that will contest your distain.

All the best to you in the future

captain, owner of Key West sailing Adventures

hi,

I just got back from the keys, we stayed on the obsession, which is the smaller of the two sailboats Key West Sailing Adeventures rents. I had a really good time. This was right in the Marina and Wharf area of key west. Everything is in walking distance including great bars, restaurants and shops.

I loved it because I felt like a local or someone who had just sailed up for a few days.

However, just to be accurate, I would not consider the boats ';luxury yachts'; as the say on their website.

There was no outlets to plug in anything, no coffee maker, the list goes on. Very rustic to say the least. however the larger one has enough room for two couples, and that may have more amenities. It is called the ';Wildthing';. It looks a little newer. Just google them and call the number on the website. they will answer all your questions.

Like I said I had a blast, but wanted to let you know it is a little more like camping than staying at a hotel.

If you wish contact us directly only to receive a list of names and numbers of happy references...we have dozens if not hundreds of happy returning clients and many thank you%26#39;s One from a party that has come back every year for 12 years. We also keep a comment book on board that goes back a couple of years pages from that may answer your questions

Thank You,

capt. Albert Owner KWSA

$300 a night with limited bathroom? I%26#39;d look on as well. I%26#39;ve seen very mixed reviews re AC and diesel smell also. Sounds like a nice concept but for less money I%26#39;d stay at Hibiscus with a big pool and a clean bathroom. Sorry Capt but your site only has one tiny picture of the interior and none of the actual cabins, and that tells me something.
