Has anyone stayed at the Gansevoort? Is it near shops and restaurants? Is it a nice hotel?

It is about 23 and Collins, where the old Roney Plaza is, just outside where the extreme northern edge of what is considered South Beach is, about a 7 block walk from Lincoln Road. I heard it is still under some construction.

The Ganesvoort is opened and while parts of it are still being finished, it%26#39;s going to be great. The roof top pool deck is sleek and cool and the ground level beach club is designed by the same unit that did Nikki Beach Club at 1 Ocean Drive.
The Philippe Chow Restaurant is opened and the much-anticipated STK steakhouse will follow this Fall.
I would definitely try to get in while the rates are at bargain levels...
The 23rd Street area will also have a brand new W hotel (under construction now) and has a GREAT restaurant - Talula - that serves a buffet Sunday Brunch that%26#39;s a REAL big hit (www.talulaonline.com) and the BRAND new Aero Bar night club opened just weeks ago next to Mokai.

The hotel looks really nice.
I am thinking about staying the in september but i am afraid of construction noise.
I stayed at the Gansevoort from June 27 - 29. It was a bad experience. I would not stay there again, and I wouldn%26#39;t recommend it to my worst enemy. I will post a review tomorrow.
We checked in yesterday and checked straight back out again! It just is not ready to open yet.
We checked into Tides and for a small amount more than we were going to pay at the Gansevoort have a wonderful ocean view room and breakfast included, the staff are all so welcoming , we really could not be happier!
If you only paid a small amount more for the Tides i guess you didn%26#39;t reserve your room through bookit.com for $99 and did get a regular room.
