My wife and I will be visiting South Beach in late September for a combo of work and play. Most likely we will be staying at the Double Tree Surfcomber. I understand that this is hurricane season but aside from that should it still be good beach and pool weather? Is the beach in front of the Surfcomber a good beach to hang out at? We would also like recommendations for good restaraunts and bars, not night clubs, within walking distance. Thanks

one more question...would you recommend savoy over surfcomber? key factors: location, beach and pool...Thanks!

Unless you are getting an oceanfront at the Surfcomer your
room will be small, dark, and dull. The pool is decent there.
IMO the Savoy is better with a nicer pool and the rooms
are larger and brighter with many having a balcony
and kitchen and more upscale bathrooms. Both are
well located with the Surfcomer being a few blocks
fron Lincoln Road and walkable to Ocean Drive. The Savoy
is right on Ocean in the south of Fifth area which is considered %26#39;hot%26#39;. As long as you are not expecting five
stars both hotels are quite adequate. Perhaps for the same price you could get the Strand and be better off if you can enjoy a rooftop pool. All three provide beach set ups.
