Does anyone know somewhere on or near International Drive where you can exchange uk pounds to dollars at a good rate and free commission??

Just don%26#39;t even consider it. It%26#39;s too ';expensive';.

Exchange your money here, before you go. Better still, take only a small amount of cash (few hundred dollars), and pay for absolutely everything you possibly can do, using a Mastercard or Visa Credit Card. And then settle it up, in full, when you get back (using the cash you were going to exchange, perhaps). This way you will get a better exchange rate.

two very conflicting messages...help!!!!

I took about a $1000.00 that I exchanged with Crown Currency when it was $2 to the 拢1.

I have a Nationwide debit card, and I used ATMs to withdraw additional currency when I was there.

I used credit cards for large purchases.

Actually, not quite ';conflicting';. Both (all) tell you not to exchange cash once in the US.

Are you interested in getting the best deal?

Market fluctuations affect this, but they are wholly unpredictable and so whatever happens is something of a gamble. If you exchange before you go, and then, while you are there, rates go down, you have gained. If they go up, you%26#39;ve lost.

Either way it%26#39;s a gamble and so, really, all you can do is ignore it in your decision and base your decision on today%26#39;s figures. Which are (from the web):

Changing currency (cash, travellers cheque, or pre-paid card) at Travelex - 1.9331; or, $1000 will cost you 拢517.30.

Using a fee-free (eg Nationwide) credit card in the US - 1.98145; or, 拢1000 will cost you 拢504.65

Thanks for all your help guys...im too late to open a nationwide flex account (which i wish i knew about before). think i will just order from travelex and pick up from the airport.

I am in ireland and would like to do what has been suggested with xetrade or crown currency but as I live in Ireland I don%26#39;t seem to be able to get cash delivered, they say wire transfer is the other option but if they transfer this to my bank ac surely it will be converted to euros? I could arrange for it to be delivered to a relative%26#39;s house in wales in cash but don%26#39;t know if this would cause problems as conversion would be from euros. Any ideas?

Why don%26#39;t you call or email Crown Currency or Travel Money services and ask them if they can deliver if you pay a bit more or if they can deliver to your relative. Only problem deliverign to your relative is you would have to get it from them. If you are not seeing them before you travel then you would have to post it out to you. You need to factor any additional costs in to the equation to see if it is still a better deal that what you can get from either Travelex or M%26amp;S.

Hallo rer weedoll ;-)

try this site and compare.

as has been said before, get your dollars here, or even better put a credit card into ';credit'; then your cash is insured as well as safe.

Cheers ;-) Wullie
