Help - First visit to Orlando where do we start?

Hi

Easter 2009 will be the first time our family has visited Orlando. With two children aged 10 years and 6 years could someone give us advise on the best location to stay in and as we are only going for two weeks, the attractions we should visit.

Any advise would be appreciate as my head is spinning trying to take everything in...

Well you%26#39;re at the right place! First, your 10 year old will probably enjoy a trip to Universal, however your 6 year old might still be too young for most of it and enjoy Disney more. You might consider hitting Universal over the actual Easter weekend and Disney during the days before or after. If you can, I%26#39;d either look at renting a villa and a car or if you feel more comfortable relying on bus transportation I%26#39;d stay on Disney property for a week and then off for another week.

first of all, can you go any other time? Easter is extremely busy, the second most crowded time of year behind Christmas/New Years. crowds will be massive and lines will be long. if you could visit more around the last week of April, first week of May, that would be so much better for crowds. since you are going for two weeks I would pick out seven parks, Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, SeaWorld, Universal Studios, and Islands of Adventure. i also recommend Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach, which can be used as rest days.

Hi KIDNEYBEAN

Like youself we are planning our first trip. We are taking six children aged 10 - 19.

I am from Belfast but recently moved to Manchester, however we are flying from Dublin DIRECT to Orlando with Aer Lingus. Flights cost approx 拢4800 for eight people.

I agree with previous posters. We plan to visit the four Disney parks, two Universal, one water park (probably Blizzard Beach) and Seaworld. We would also like to include either helicopter ride or hot air balloon ride. This leaves us time for shopping at the many malls or relaxing at our villa.

We are staying at a four bedroom villa which I found on holiday-rentals.co.uk at a cost of approx 拢930 for two weeks.

We travel on 7th April and return on 21st April 2009. We realise that this will be an extremely busy time but hope that by using fast pass system at Disney parks and purchasing express passes for Universal we will manage to avoid some queues.

We plan to purchase all our tickets and Universal express passes in advance then allow 拢300 - 拢400 per day for food, drinks, ice-creams etc. Does anyone think this sounds reasonable?

I am really enjoying researching our trip and find this site invaluable.

Good luck!

Julia
