My husband was craving a burger the other night. We realized that we never hear anyone talking about ';the best burger'; around here.

So...where is it?

Best Burger in Sarasota?

All those recomendations are great, but if you really want a good burger try the ';Kobe'; beaf burger at Zoria i think it%26#39;s $16. Also, Creative Loafing just did a best burger bracket in conjunction with the NCAA Final Four recently. I would check that out for some good ideas.

So it sounds to me like there is no hole-in-the-wall place that only the locals know about where you can get a kick-butt burger for four bucks then, correct?

That%26#39;s what we were thinking. Every city we have lived in had a place like that, but I guess not here. Bummer.

I would look in the Gulf Gate area for a place like that. The one place that comes to mind is ';Munchies'; it has weird hours, but you can create any burger you want. An example would be a burger topped with mozarella sticks, onion rings, and nacho cheese. Other than that there is a place on Bee Ridge called ';Tasty Burger'; that features smaller burgers for $1 or something low like that, and you just order more than one. I hope this helps.

Hey, newbie (lol), a Sarasota institution is Hob Nob -- an outdoor drivein kind of place. OK burger, but they also have some other very good stuff besides, and it is strictly out of the 50%26#39;s. Otherwise Patricks is excellent.

I drive by the Hob Nob all the time! Looks like fast food though.

I had a Boca Soy burger yesterday. Well, I don%26#39;t like Boca burgers but I love their new Bruschetta Tomato Basil one. YUM!

Lifelong local here and OBEY the following:

1. A burger from the little bait shack on New Pass is the BEST in the area. It%26#39;s on the left just after you make the turn to go to Mote Marine or City Island.

2. Hob Nob is a Sarasota institution for 50 years. Great burgers.

3. Tasty Burger on Bee Ridge Road. you get 3 mini burgers with onions and pickles for $1.98, AWESOME.

4. 5 Guys Burgers and Fries on University parkway. Great, fresh burgers and fries to die for.
