Trip Report- First time at Daytona Beach!

Hello everyone,

Just thought I%26#39;d give everyone a quick trip report as everyone was so helpful to me before my visit to Daytona. I will try and keep it short and apologies if it doesn’t make a lot of sense, still a bit jet lagged from arriving back in England on Sunday!

If any one has questions just ask.

Firstly my partner and I stayed at the Aku Tiki inn- very nice hotel, will put a full report under the hotels section in the next few days.

This was our first visit to Daytona after visiting other parts of Florida and we really liked it even after having a nightmare with the Airline company that we flew with, they lost my partners bag and were useless at getting it back to him! We had to do all the work! But even after all of that Daytona was really nice and we would go back there, just with a different airline company!

Whist we were there the weather was hot but with a nice breeze coming in from the ocean. Rain storms a bit in the afternoon but they would come and go quickly, bit too cloudy some days though so didn’t get the greatest of tans, but still overall nice ?

Daytona Beach itself is really nice, A little run down in places but that didn’t put us off at all.

Glad we got a car; Daytona Beach is very long and didn’t see the trams that are supposed to go up and down much! Also sometimes had trouble hunting down a taxi for some reason, so we just started pre booking or keeping a number on us to call which was fine. Found the people in Daytona very friendly and nice people

For our first night we went to the Baseball Park which was really really good for some good old fashion fun! Hotdogs were yummy! Then we got a taxi down to see the Fireworks at the Pier, sat on the beach to watch, was a great start to our holiday.

During our visit we had a play at one of the Miniature golf places which was fun, had lunch at Crabby Joes (great views, nice food and very relaxed.

We got to go Deep Sea Fishing which was great! enjoyed it out at sea and got to see lots of wildlife whilst learning how to fish!

We also visited Caribbean Jacks, food was ok, views were great but we went on a Wednesday so was pretty quite, think it would be better at the weekend.

For a cheap day out we brought some Boogie boards from the supermarket and took them in the Sea which was fun!

The Water Park was also pretty good with a few big water slides, lazy river and wave pool

Cinema and Ocean walk shops was a nice area, and the Mai Tai bar had good happy hour drinks and the bar food was great!

Went for breakfast most days at the IHOP across the road from our hotel, really nice food at great prices.

Went out to the clothes outlets which had a really good selection of shops

For our last night we went to the Hilton Steak Restaurant which was really nice and the people were so helpful. It was expensive compared to our other meals in Daytona at $170 for two including starters, mains and bottle of wine but compared to London and the amount a good steak meal costs here it was still really good value and worth it

Over all it was a great holiday, wish we had more time to spend on beach, got in a visit to the Kennedy space centre and had a night out at inlet harbour but apart from that really enjoyed our time in Daytona!

Trip Report- First time at Daytona Beach!

Thanks for your report, it sounds like you did a lot! Did you fly into Orlando? We had our last visitors also had luggage issues. One flew Delta and they delivered the luggage to us one it arrived, the other was American and we had to go back to the airport to get it, they would not deliver.

Other than that I am glad you visited and the steak house really isn%26#39;t that bad for a splurge meal!

Thanks again!

Trip Report- First time at Daytona Beach!

Glad you had a great trip. The Aku Tiki is our new favorite hotel in the DB area. The grounds are wonderful. Sounds like you had a full visit. Did you play the miniature golf that has the alligators you can feed out front?

Hi! - I%26#39;m interested in your Deep Sea Fishing experience. Which group did you go out with? Can you tell me the cost? How long was your trip and did you catch any fish?

Glad you had a great trip! I%26#39;m planning a trip and I hope it%26#39;s exciting yet relaxing!

Thanks for any information you are able to give!

We flew in to Sanford airport, it was just a shame that our holiday was ruined a bit because of the airline losing one of our bags. I know its something that happens sometimes but the airline were just really unhelpful getting the bag back to us, we had to keep calling their office and then they wouldnt call us back or were closed and we had correspond with the desk back in london which they should have been doing. Just meant that time we could have spent on the beach was spent sitting in the hotel room doing their job! Would never fly with the same airline again.

The steak house was a great price compared to back in in London and the food was so great, making me hungry now!

Yep miniuture golf was the one with the alligators, was good fun

I found the web link for the Deep sea fishing:

http://www.seaspiritfishing.com/

We done a half day trip which was $55 which i think is a good price. It started as 7.30 am and finished at 12. Really enjoyed it and did catch some fish, mainly small sharks that were swimming round the boat ! but sometimes when we did catch a few and the crew threw them back in the sea beause they were little baby ones or just not good to eat, some people got to keep theres

London,

That is really too bad you had all that trouble with your luggage. We always pack a swimsuit, change of clothes and our medicines in our carry on bag just in case our luggage does get lost, we figure we can survive in Db on what is in the carry on if we have to. So far it has never happened and I sure hope it never happens to you again. I%26#39;m happy you had a good time in DB. It%26#39;s truly a wonderful, fun, beautiful beach! Thank you for the trip report.
