Mobiles

Hi there, we will be in Orlando this friday and my query is about mobile phones, we are a party of 8 with 2 cars and need to stay in contact, I%26#39;ve heard that the best way to do this is to buy a sim card there. If this is the best way any suggestions as to which to get get and where? or any other way of doing this.

Thanks in advance

Using your own UK mobiles (SIMs, really) to either make or receive calls will be very costly. So, only for total emergencies.

Best deal I found was at Walmart for a Net10 phone. You buy a handset, charger and SIM and you get your own US phone number. It all costs $30 and it includes your first $30-worth of credit. So, in other words, the equipment is basically free.

Your $30 gets used at these rates:

Call to any US number 10c/minute

Receive a call regardless of origin 10c/minute

Call UK landline 15c/minute

SMS to a US mobile 5c each

Unused credit expires and is forfeit after 60 days. SIM cannot be used in any other non-Net10 handset. Handset cannot be used outside the USA. So, when you leave, you simply bin it all. You can%26#39;t use it to call or send SMS TO a UK mobile.

Should have said.....so, you%26#39;ll need two of them, at least.

Hi Neversure

I went to Florida with my 24 yr old daughter and we wanted to keep in touch. I went to Walmart and purchased 2 phones ( Tracphones ) at $14.99 each. Then i bought 2 phone cards at $10 each. Cost per phone, $26 dollars including tax. The cards give you 30 mins. and when you activate the phone you get 10 free mins, total 40 mins.

Use the motel phone to activate the phones because it is a toll free No: and does not cost you. that gives you 40 mins talk time and you can also call home on the phones for the same charge.
